Walmart-owned Flipkart has redesigned its app interface in an effort to make user experience more intuitive and simple to navigate. As the ecommerce company expands the availability of its grocery delivery features to over 1,800 cities, it has placed a “Grocery” tab at the top left of the app when users open it.
The dedicated space for grocery shopping is at the top of the homepage to ensure more customers are aware of it and visit it more often. Ram said “putting grocery at the top makes it top of the mind of customers. Now they are aware and will go and check it. It is a very important category for Flipkart and we are very focused on it."
The changes are currently being implemented in phases starting with the navigation experience. This will be followed by a design revamp of fonts, icons, category pages, and vernacular language interfaces and will also be made available on iOS, mobile web, and desktop platforms. “With millions of first-time internet users exploring e-commerce from not just from metros but from tier 2 and tier 3 cities, it was imperative to create a user experience that caters to the diverse needs of the users,” said a press statement from the ecommerce company. The redesign is aimed at making the experience of navigating between different categories of products and services more intuitive for these new customers.
To help customers from these cities find deals easily, Flipkart is repurposing the space vacated by category with consumer-centric programmes for tier 2 tier 3 consumers in the new layout.
